If you are one of those people who are looking for something new to do in Karachi, well, look no further. The T2F is here to solve all your needs with alternative ways to spend your evenings in the city of lights.
T2F (formerly known as The Second Floor) is a project by PeaceNiche. Located in a cozy corner of Phase 2 Ext., T2F is a community space for open dialogue. It provides residents of Karachi with a platform for social change through rich cultural activities, public discourse and advocacy using progressive ideas and the new media.
It was founded by the late Sabeen Mahmud. She considered T2F "a community initiative for open dialogue featuring a café, bookshop and multi-purpose performance space for readings, talks, debates, theatre, film, dance, open mic nights, jam sessions and stand-up comedy". Sabeen directed all programming, operations, fundraising, volunteer management, marketing and outreach until her death on April 24, 2015.
Never a dull moment, the place hosts everything from dance and poetry recitals, music concerts, art exhibitions, prose reading, movie screenings, book signings, open mic nights for amateur singers, poets, writers, storytelling sessions for the little ones and panels on anything from literature to politics.
Their latest special activity, Atelier 2.0, running till April 2 is a painting and drawing workshop. Moreover, Travelling Film South Asia and Aks Festival will also be held at T2F over the next coming weeks.
In short, the place is what you want it to be, a sort of room of requirement capable of becoming anything for those who so require it. You can go to the T2F every day and never find it the same from one day to the next.
