Indian cricket captain and batting genius Virat Kohli has shared a video in which a child is shown not just being coaxed but relentlessly intimidated by her parent to count numbers from 1 to 5. She is even slapped for not being able to say it properly.
Blasting the way the kid is treated and abused, Kohli has poured his heart out. He says, "The fact that the pain and anger of the child is ignored and ones own ego to make the child learn is so massive that compassion has totally gone out of the window. This is shocking and saddening to another dimension. A child can never learn if intimidated. This is hurtful."
Kohli's deep agony is quite understandable when you see the child crying, totally in awe of the parent. The insensitive parent continues to thrust the lesson on the kid despite the poor girl voicing her sorry plight. You feel so helpless watching the defenseless child.
Learning has to be fun, it can never come through discipline that kills a child's spontaneity. By reacting to the video and voicing his angst, Kohli has brought to the fore the chinks in India's education system. His infuriation and sadness reflect his solidarity with all kids who have to go through a similar harrowing ordeal as the girl in the video does.

Indian batsman Shikhar Dhawan and former Indian player Robin Uthappa have also reacted to the video.
Dhawan wrote, "I request parents to be patient with ur kids at all times. Every child learns at his own pace. Pls refrain from beating/degrading them."
Uthappa tweeted, "This is heart wrenching. Children shouldn't be raised this way. This needs to stop. I pray we can raise our kids with love instead of fear."
