GET READY TO "wiggle" alongside Jason Derulo as the acclaimed singer/songwriter joins the roster for the second Dubai Music Week.
The American R&B star will headline the four-day festival's opening night on September 23, to be held at Dubai World Trade Centre. He is the latest performer to be added to the monster line-up of stars that will also include British songstress Ellie Goulding and alternative rock group Thirty Seconds To Mars.
With the help of a particularly intense fanbase, industry observers have witnessed Derulo's career skyrocket since he first made his debut only six years ago. Considered to be one of the most prolific performers in entertainment today, Derulo's stage presence is an enviable mix of bravado and skill.
The 25-year-old has already sold 50 million singles worldwide, racked up more than two billion views on YouTube and gone platinum ten times with tracks including In My Head, Whatcha Say and The Other Side. His fourth studio album, aptly titled Everything Is 4, was released in June and includes hit songs Cheyenne and Want To Want Me, which became the most added track in the history of Top 40 Radio.
No stranger to the UAE, Derulo was a support act for Alicia Keys in 2013 and has also performed a number of club gigs across Dubai as well as the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix last year.
Derulo's personal life has also garnered a fair amount of attention due to his long-term relationship with American Idol winner Jordin Sparks. The couple's messy public split broke fans' hearts around the world but signalled a new direction in Derulo's musical progression.
Aside from the live performances, Dubai Music Week - running from September 23 to 26 - will feature an interactive entertainment village, workshops and celebrity speaker sessions.
Tickets are Dhs295, from www.ticketmaster.ae.
