A taxi driver, who stalked a woman and groped her, was sentenced to six months in jail, to be followed by deportation.
The Court of First Instance was told the 28-year-old Pakistani parked his car away from the building and approached the woman as she had just arrived from work to her place shortly around 5am.
The woman, a 32-year-old Russian, said that on March 25 she missed the bus that usually drop the staff home from the restaurant, where she worked.
"I had to take a cab to our company's accommodation in the Greek cluster in the international City. I held my purse in one hand and was talking on my phone on the other hand." The complainant was about to pull the building's door when she suddenly felt someone touching her.
"I turned around and saw a man (the defendant) behind me. He touched me inappropriately twice."
She screamed at him and her colleagues who had just reached the building chased him. But he fled.
They informed the police, who spotted the defendant's car nearby. It had the engine on, while he was not behind the wheel.
"About 20 minutes later, he came to his car gasping for breath as if he was running for some time. He had taken his shirt off," she said.
The police arrested him after the woman identified him.
No appeal was filed against the primary verdict.
