His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Vice-President of the Supreme Petroleum Council, said that the UAE, under the leadership of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, attaches great importance to, and will continue its support of, the oil and gas sector, and its national institutions, particularly Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, due to the central role it plays in promoting the country's position as a major supplier of oil and gas and petroleum derivatives on the global energy map.
Shaikh Mohammed, during his visit on Sunday to the headquarters of Adnoc, praised the contribution of Adnoc to the UAE's economy and prosperity.
Shaikh Mohammed, who was accompanied by Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and UAE Minister of Presidential Affairs; Shaikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council; and Shaikh Diab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, was received by Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Cabinet Member, UAE Minister of State and CEO of the Adnoc Group, and a number of senior officials in the company.
Shaikh Mohammed was briefed on the company's plans in the oil and gas sector, its strategic objectives and expansion projects in the petrochemical and refining industries, as well as projects being implemented at the Al Ruwais industrial complex.
He was also briefed on Adnoc's efforts to achieve its strategic short-term and long-term objectives to raise the standards and quality of operational efficiency, rationalisation of expenditure, maintaining assets to ensure sustainability, health and safety concerns for employees and the environment.
Shaikh Mohammed said that Adnoc's role as a reliable oil and gas provider underpins the UAE's status as a global energy leader. He commended the group's long term focus on strategic goals, while driving efficiencies in response to the evolving global energy landscape and market conditions.
Dr Al Jaber said: "We are pleased to welcome His Highness Shaikh Mohammed to Adnoc, and are grateful for his unwavering support. The Adnoc Group will continue to be a major contributor to the nation's prosperity, as we improve and optimise efficiencies across the group and deliver on opportunities for growth in order to maintain our competitive edge."
