At the request of the State of Kuwait, the Arab League Council is holding an extraordinary session at the level of permanent delegates on Tuesday, with the aim of discussing the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Syrian city of Aleppo.
Kuwait's Delegate to the Arab League, Ambassador Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Bakr, said in press statements that the date of the meeting was determined following consultations between the Arab League Council's Presidency in Tunisia, the General Secretariat in Cairo, and Kuwait with Arab countries, adding that Kuwait's request was backed by Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Tunisia, and Bahrain.
He also said that the council will convene to discuss the deteriorating situation in Aleppo due to indiscriminate aerial bombardment of civilians with barrel bombs and the siege. He added that the Arab stakeholders would appeal to the international community and humanitarian organisations to provide aid to the besieged people of Aleppo.
