Some parts of the UAE witnessed heavy rain today, providing much-needed respite from the scorching heat. The mercury has been hovering around 40 to 45 degrees Celsius since the last couple of days across the emirates.
The National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology took to Twitter to share videos of thundery rain over Tiba, north of Masafi and moderate rain over north of Hatta.
Thundery rain along with hail has been reported over Shoukah, Khor Fakkan, Al Qor and Khalifa road.

Low visibility due to dust and partly cloudy days are ahead in the UAE, according to NCMS.
According to the weather forecast for five days from May 11 to May 15, eastern and northern parts of the country will witness partially cloudy weather with some towering clouds on some areas, with chances of rainfall.
There will be fluctuations in weather as an extension of surface low pressure accompanied by a high altitude atmospheric depression.
Residents have been asked to be cautious of low visibility due to dust. "It is also advised to stay away from water pools near the eastern highlands," said the weather report.
On Saturday and Sunday, the clouds are expected to increase in different areas, with some cumulus clouds accompanied by scattered rains, moderate winds, causing rising dust on exposed areas and decreasing the horizontal visibility over some areas, NCMS said in its report.
The amount of clouds will generally decrease by Monday, and the possibility of clouds formation will also reduce by afternoon.
