47% drop in seat belt violations in Sharjah

Sharjah - 8,781 cases recorded this year till now, compared to 27,238 in 2016

The seat belt violations have dropped by 47 per cent in Sharjah. During the first nine months of this year, the police recorded 8,781 cases where people didn't buckle up compared to 27, 238 such violations during the same period in 2016.
Major General Abdulrahman Khater, director of awareness and traffic information at the traffic and patrol department, said that the Sharjah Police were keen to spread traffic culture. He urged the public to use the safety belt while driving their vehicles.
He also called on the motorists to raise awareness about seat belts among their friends. Wearing a seat belt reduces serious injuries caused due to severe impact during an accident. He said that children in the rear seat should fasten their seat belts to ensure that they are not thrown out of the vehicle during an accident.
The Sharjah Police have urged motorists and road users to adhere to the traffic rules and regulations and be wary about the speed limits, while avoiding practices that could endanger the life of others as well as theirs.
