The Emirates National Oil Company (Enoc) has announced the installation of nine electrical charging stations at Enoc/Eppco service stations across the emirate.
Established in partnership with the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), the first seven charging stations were completed and commissioned in Enoc/Eppco petrol stations in February 2016, while two additional units are planned to be installed in upcoming sites currently under construction in Dubai. In February 2015, the Dewa launched its first charging station for electric cars in its headquarters.
"This project highlights our commitment to sustainability and our strategy to promote the use of electric cars, in line with the Dubai Government's Smart City initiative. We are thankful to Enoc for its support in providing their facilities to establish the infrastructure needed to facilitate the implementation," said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice-Chairman of Enoc Group and Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Dewa.
The Dewa launched the electric-vehicle charging stations programme last year in support of the vision of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to transform Dubai into a smart city.
