As many as 78,435 people have availed of the 55 per cent discount on all types of traffic fines in Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) so far.

Major-General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of the RAK Police, said: "The discount offer, spanning all types of traffic fines, including vehicle impoundment, was initially launched to mark the 7th anniversary of the ascension day of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah."

To avail of the offer, motorists have to pay the fines at the traffic and licensing centres and police stations , Al Nuaimi added.

"These fixed and portable radars on the roads will also help reduce traffic accidents in the emirate," according to The RAK Police chief.

The 32-day grace period announced on November 1, which was scheduled to end on Wednesday, has been extended for 17 more days, on the occasion of UAE National Day.
