As he ordered the advisory committee of the Ministry of Interior to draft a memo to the Mnistry of Presidential Affairs, recommending naturalisation of Abdul Rahman, the Minister of Interior Lt-Gen General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, said he was impressed by the personal initiative of Abdul Rahman, who sought to address his problem while fully respecting the law.

“ We appreciate the initiative of Abdul Rahman, who has shown himself to be a law-abiding person. The fact that he sought to correct his status to stay and work legally in the country proves that he is well-intentioned,’ Shaikh Saif said.

Abdul Rahman obtained a passport from the Comoros Republic to enable him work and stay legally in the UAE, while at the same time pursuing his UAE citizenship.

’Although he applied for a residency permit, his application for UAE citizenship is perfect and has met all the required conditions.

Moreover, his record is clean and therefore his Comoros passport could just be replaced,” said Brigadier Maktoum Al Shareifi, head of a special committee tasked with naturalising stateless persons. Wam
