Grygoriy Sokirinskiy Exhibition

N2N Gallery in Nation Towers
One of the great masters of the Soviet Academic Art, Grygoriy Sokirinskiy (1900-1974) will have his art on display at the N2N Gallery. Early in his career, Sokirinskiy profiled himself as a landscape painter, known for skilfully using watercolour. His depiction of Ukrainian landscapes in paintings has a surreal effect, thanks to the luminous nature of the water paint.

The Gallery, Emirates Palace
Celebrating 20 years of the Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation (ADMAF), the visual arts exhibition features artworks by artists in different thematic areas in the exhibition on the topics of Nation and Unity, Geography and Nature, Architecture and Urbanism, Portraiture and Identity, Religion and Spirituality, Language and Calligraphy, and Tradition and Heritage.
From large-scale indoor and outdoor sculptures to paintings, drawings, photographs, collages, videos and installations, "Portrait of a Nation" captures the ever-changing face of the visual arts in the country.

Abu Dhabi Classics 2016 series

The new season of Abu Dhabi Classics brings a series of classical concerts and performances by some of the world's leading musicians and orchestras in Western and Eastern classical music. All the programmes in May start at 8pm.
China Philharmonic Orchestra with Long Yu: The Song of the Earth
May 9 at Emirates Palace
The pride of the Chinese classical music scene, the China Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO), will be performing in the capital under the baton of star conductor Long Yu. The CPO has managed to bring its distinctive sound to a worldwide audience, shedding light on popular classical compositions and discovering new masterpieces. Programme: Qigang Chen, Reflet d'un temps disparu for violoncello and orchestra; Jian Wang on Cello; Gustav Mahler: Das Lied von der Erde; and Warren Mok, tenor.
China Philharmonic Orchestra with Long Yu: Tchaikovsky 5

Qigang Chen, Reflet d'un temps disparu for violoncello and orchestra; Jian Wang on Cello; and Pyotr Ilych Tchaikovsky, Symphony Nr 5 in E minor.
Matthias Goerne: Winter Journey

To perform a central piece of the romantic repertoire, TCA Abu Dhabi Classics invites Star Baritone Matthias Goerne to the capital for a one night only concert. The German singer attained international fame by performing the Lied repertoire Schubert brought to perfection and is considered among the prominent performers to take his public on the nearly two-century-old journey of poetry and music.
Emirates Photography Competition - Workshops

The exhibition for the 9th International Emirates Photography Competition will showcase all winning entries and unique works from its recent edition at Manarat Al Saadiyat. It will also host a series of photography workshops for adults and teens to give an insight into the techniques and themes covered in the Emirates Photography Competition. Schedule

The Souk will also host seminars on UAE heritage and archaeological sites in Al Ain, painted art works and photography exhibitions, as well as a number of activities for children and families. Abu Dhabi's heritage will be on display with crafts, Al Ayala performances, authentic building techniques, rope making, delicious cuisine, and folk games.

Multaqa Zayed National Museum programmes

With the museum dedicated to the development of the country through the life and achievements of the late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Founding Father of the UAE, the Multaqa Zayed National Museum will be a forum for people to participate in an engaging series of talks, which will explore the main themes of the museum.
