Public prosecution records show the 23-year-old Indian attacked the British woman, who was alone in her garden. He kissed and touched her against her will. He ran when she said she would call the police.
He had earlier pleaded not guilty to the charge in the Court of First Instance. The court has ordered his deportation after serving his time.
The complaint was filed on May 31 at Bur Dubai police station.
The 35-year-old housewife, who said she had placed an order for home delivery at a nearby grocery, told the prosecutor: "When the delivery man arrived I let him enter my house garden."
"I paid him the money and took the bags but all of sudden he jumped on me making me fall down. He tried to kiss me on the neck, grope me and touch me all over."
She pushed him away, telling him she would call the police. That made him leave her and run out. She then told her husband, who called the police.
"We went to the woman's house on that day. She looked like she had been drinking alcohol. She told us the accused sexually assaulted her," a policeman told the prosecutor.
However, the accused told the cops after his arrest at the grocery that the housewife invited him to drink with her. The officer said in his statement that the accused claimed when he did not accept her invitation she made up the story that he sexually assaulted her.
A biological expert's report said the defendant's DNA traces were found on the woman's neck. This could only result from touching, kissing or biting.
The worker may appeal the ruling within 15 days.
