In a media briefing, on the first day of Umex-2016, Brigadier General Rashid Mohammed Al-Shamsi, chairman of Higher Organizing Committee of the second Unmanned System Exhibition said of these deals, Quebec Simulation Systems won a contract to install internal training systems consisting of 20 shooting systems valuing Dh9.107 million.
Other deals were inked by CIA Inc. for the sale of Dh404.8 million simulation systems and International Flight Academy to train pilots on Blackhawks aircraft valuing Dh80.377 million. Infox Simulation signed a deal worth Dh160 million whereas the local player Al Badi won Dh50 million contract to train technicians and operators from Republic of Belarus on Volate tanks.
Abu Dhabi Autonomous Systems Investments, or Adasi, won an Dh 62.888 deal to supply spare parts for Sebar project.
Earlier, Umex 2016 and the Simulation Exhibition and Conference which is part of the Abu Dhabi Aviation and Aerospace Week (Adaaw), kicked of Sunday, when Shaikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan National Security Advisor and deputy chairman Abu Dhabi Executive Council opened the show.
The show has been delinked from the popular International Defense Exhibition or Idex.
The delinking of Umex from Idex comes as part of Adnec's strategy to increase the number of specialised exhibitions and conferences held in Abu Dhabi to enhance Abu Dhabi's reputation as the capital of business tourism industry in the region. This will in turn promote economic development in the emirate through increasing the direct and indirect impact of business tourism sector on economy, while also supporting other economic sectors associated with business tourism industry.
The number of exhibitors has also increased from 34 in the last edition to 90 international and local companies in the forthcoming edition, representing an increase of some 160 per cent. Exhibitors from 22 countries are participating the show up against 14 countries in the previous edition, registering a 60 per cent growth.
