The appeal was made during a speech delivered by the third secretary at the Kuwait permanent delegation to the United Nations, Ibrahim Al-Arfaj, at the committee meeting on weapons disarmament and world security of the 67th UN General Assembly, reported Kuwait news agency (KUNA) on Saturday.
Al-Arfaj said Kuwait believed that the only means to rid the world of such weapons was to work in earnest to prevent the proliferation of nuclear arms, stressing that by doing so, the world would live in peace and harmony.
Allowing states like Israel, which refused to sign the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), to have nuclear capabilities would hinder the goal of a Mideast free of nuclear arms, Al-Arfaj added.
