I am a soon-to-be 15-year-old girl and regularly follow your columns, but I'm unsure of which remedy to use. I have been experiencing severe hair fall and my tresses have been thinning as well. I have many pimples and spots due to oily skin. Kindly suggest some quick remedies.- Name withheld
Fenugreek paste is a great treatment for falling hair. Soak 1 tablespoon fenugreek seeds in warm water. After one hour, make a paste by mixing it with 2 tablespoons aloe vera gel in a blender. Massage into the scalp and keep on for 30 minutes. Rinse in the shower. Avoid shampoo, as aloe vera is both a cleanser and gives body to the hair. Do this thrice a week to get excellent results. Pat 5 drops of tea tree oil on the areas with pimples; leave overnight and do this every day. Once the pimples clear, rub potato pulp on those areas and rinse off after an hour. Do this every day and the marks will clear up too.
Your remedies have given me good results in the past. Can you suggest one more for chapped lips and dry cupid's bow? I drink an adequate amount of water and follow a good diet. Please don't suggest anything that require lemon, aloe vera or onion as I'm allergic to these ingredients. - Sameeha
Chapped lips and dry cupid's bow could be due to inadequate cleansing of the skin. Dip a cotton ball in cold full cream milk and cleanse your face, especially on and around the lips. Let this dry and rinse off after 10 minutes. Do this thrice a day for excellent results. You will gradually see skin become supple and smooth.

I am an almost 13-year-old girl who has a lot of pimples and blackheads on my face. I've noticed that they have started to appear on my arms and back too. Also, due to being in the sun for long hours, I have slightly dark skin. Lastly, I feel like I look a bit too old for a 13-year-old. Please suggest an anti-ageing remedy, along with something for the other problems. - Ria
When pimples move from face to arms and back, it's a sure indication that your scalp, face and back need deep cleansing. Mix a teaspoon lemon juice with 1 tablespoon aloe vera gel; add half a teaspoon baking powder and apply to your scalp, face, arms and back. Rub gently and rinse after 20 minutes. Do this for the face, arms and back every day, but only three times a week for the scalp, followed by shampoo. Skin will clear, brighten and look youthful.

My 10-year-old daughter is a swimmer and gets badly tanned during her morning training sessions in an open pool. Of late, she has started feeling very low about the skin shade on her face, hands and legs that she's stopped wearing frocks and skirts. I have tried a lot of sunscreen brands but in vain. Please suggest a guaranteed remedy that is quick and easy, as she is always in a rush with school and training sessions. - Gowri
Tomato is an excellent skin bleach. After her swim, ask her to rub a slice of tomato on her face, hands and body, and then rinse off. Follow with an organic coconut oil rub and leave this on the face and body. She can lightly rinse in the shower with no rubbing, just patting the skin, as the oil will both nourish and brighten it. Every night, before retiring to bed, she should apply coconut oil on her face and body to brighten skin tone.
