Dr Hashim Al Nuaimi, director of the Consumer Protection Department at the Ministry of Economy declined to answer when asked on the decision on deregulating the prices of diesel and gasoline, and said he was on vacation. He said the question should be shot to the Ministry of Energy for it is responsible for the issue, and due to his many communications, he switched off his telephone.
The media-in-charge at the Ministry of Economy Nail Abdul Aziz, said comment on the matter could not be made until the new prices were issued.
"Right now, all are hypotheses and speculations", he said, noting the ministry will not comment unless the descriptions of the prices are issued and which are scheduled for July 28. Abdul Aziz said speculations showed no hike in the prices of diesel which might fall.
