A team of the Dubai Civil Defence - comprising firefighters - visited the Torch tower and pasted 'Welcome Back' cards on the doors of the flats and distributed them to the residents as well. They checked with the tenants if they needed any further support. The team was headed by Lieutenant Colonel Ali Hassan Al Mutawa, assistant director of smart services department at Dubai Civil Defence. The visit came about following instructions from Major General Rashid Thani Al Matroushi, director general of Dubai Civil Defence. The team members congratulated the tenants for their safe return to their homes. They listened to them and took stock of their material losses. The team expressed its readiness to extend all help to the tenants while answering their queries. On their part, the tenants praised the kind gesture of the Dubai Civil Defence. "I got flowers!," said a Torch resident Soraya Raafat. "I was on my way downstairs to get some thing from the super market, and I ran into Dubai Police when they were giving the cards out." "It was a sweet move," she added. "Yesterday they came to the apartment and they handed over a postcard kind of thing, and kind of a welcome pack," said Shezi, another Torch resident. "It's nice of them to do so. I guess you can't really expect much more in such a situation. It's a nice gesture."
