The 'most famous' inmate in Dubai's Misdemeanors and Offences jail has embraced Islam and pronounced the "Shahadateen" in Arabic bearing witness there is no God but Allah, and Mohammed is the last Messenger of Allah".
The prisoner (whose name and prison term have not been disclosed) accepted Islam after finding the religion a religion of tolerance and mercy, and also due to the kind treatment he had received from the policemen and the personnel at the General Department of Punitive and Correctional Institutions. The officials displayed excellent morals vis-à-vis their behaviour with him and other inmates.
Brigadier Ali Mohammed Al Shamali, Director of the General Department of Punitive and Correctional Institutions said the Pole inmate was treated kindly by prison staff.
"He also read a collection of English booklets, which explained about tolerance in Islam - and was given an English translation of the Holy Quran," Al Shamali added.
Brigadier Shamali underlined that the inmate embraced Islam only after he was fully convinced after thoroughly studying the humanitarian aspect of Islam, which calls for good morals and behaviour.
The inmate was also influenced by practices and rituals such as praying in congregation (Jamaat) and listening to the 'Muazzin' calling the faithful for prayer.
"One of the most convincing reasons for his conversion was his contemplation in the 'Kingdom of Heavens' and grandeur of the Creator", the official further added.
