His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has thanked all mothers 'everywhere' for their love and sacrifices.
Sheikh Mohammed recalls pain of losing his mother
The Crown Prince paid a glowing tribute to all mothers on the occasion of the Emirati Mother's Day that is celebrated on March 21 every year.

Malak Tariq Afarsi, an Emirati mother of two girls aged eight and six, said every day is 'mother's day' for all mothers, "but a special day set aside for us to feel special is always an added bonus."
"When mothers work hard behind the scenes to raise children, manage their homes and work simultaneously, nobody realises the sacrifices; the long nights staying up and looking after our sick kids. But when your child brings you their first medal or certificate of achievement, it makes it all worth it."
What was Sheikh Mohammed's first gift to his mother?
"Lamia and my younger daughter Leanne make me proud in all their endeavours be it Lamia in gymnastics or Leanne preparing for her first exams in playing the piano and excelling in her studies or when they make the cutest little handwritten notes to make me smile. My world is in my children and that for me is my biggest achievement," said Malak who quit her job as an HR professional a few years ago to be a full time mother.

Umm Ahmed, a mother of four children in Abu Dhabi said a special day dedicated to emirati mothers goes a long way in acknowledging their dedication and sacrifices.
"This morning, all my children wished me a happy Mother's Day and thanked me for everything I do for them. It made me immensely happy."
Every day is a day to celebrate mothers: Sheikh Mohamed
"We mothers don't seek recognition or reward. We value the success of our children and happiness more than ours. And we have learnt it from the mother of the nation, who is never in the limelight. But she is working tirelessly for our society and for the women of UAE. That is how every mother should be," said Umm Ahmed.
