A parliament for children will soon come up in the UAE, the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood has announced. The council has inked an agreement to this effect with the Federal National Council (FNC), officials said as they revealed the theme of Emirati Children's Day for 2020.
The special day on March 15 will be marked under the theme 'the right to participation'.
This is in line with the government's full commitment to support children's rights under a special law the country enacted in 2016 called 'Wadeema's Law'.
Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, said children's care and development are at the heart of the country's national priorities. "Dedicating a special day for Emirati children is reflective of the growing interest and paramount importance attached by the country to ensure a brighter future for generations to come," said Sheikha Fatima.
