While government offices have opened doors again, many residents have reiterated that the country's digital initiatives have helped them like never before.
These smart platforms have paid dividends, especially during the Covid-19. The UAE - with its constant vision and foresight - has kept up with technology and designed avenues to aid residents' daily functions.
Management professional Kabir Malkani has used a variety of apps to pay his utility bills while staying indoors. "The government apps are just fabulous. It served well, especially in the Covid-19 situation. I didn't have to get out of the home. Everything was done smoothly - paying electricity bills to fines to Salik charges. They've proved to be so handy."
Another expat Amrita Pratihast said these digital platforms have proved to be the smart solutions to prevent the spread of the virus. "Dubai's user-friendly apps are the most thoughtful gesture that the government could show towards its residents. It is as if the city is at your fingertips to gather any information through online chat support or instant payment gateways. I personally feel such measures make us feel extra secure in this land."
Anirban Nandi said the 'Dewa app' has facilitated streamlining key services, even as stepping out was not an option. "It was always effective. But during the crisis time, the application has gained an even higher level of efficiency in enhancing user productivity and customer service experience."
For Deepika Soman, DubaiNow is the one-stop app for all your city services. "This combines Dewa, Etisalat, DU, RTA. So you can pay your car insurance, utility bills, Salik, Ejari by downloading a single app. It is the most useful application that I've ever used. It's proved to be a lifesaver during these unprecedented times."
British expat Aws Ismail feels the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) app. "I had got certain tests done before coronavirus began. When Covid-19 fears started I was quite wary of visiting a hospital and collecting my reports. But the DHA app proved to be immensely helpful in more ways than I could have ever imagined. The reports and further consultation with the doctor was all done with the help of this app. I also use the online systems to pay my utility bills, which, I believe, has aided residents in staying secure at home, while availing government services, especially in these times."
