A slew of contests have been lined up for the first Ajman Sea Festival - organised by Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) - to be held at Marina 1 from October 22 to November 1. The festival's five main events include a fishing championship sponsored by Delma Marine, a flyboard contest, a dragon boat race, a jet ski marathon and a jet ski drag race. Professionals and amateurs from around the world will participate in the competitions. Over the course of 11 days, the festival will highlight the importance of water sports, while holding a number of cultural and marine activities.
Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, ATDD director-general, said: "We are hosting the festival as part of ATDD's strategy to develop the tourism sector in line with Ajman Vision 2021. The emirate's strategic location, advanced infrastructure, landmarks and premium hotel facilities are attracting tourists and investors to Ajman."
He explained that the festival, which will be held annually, is expected to beckon tourists and a large number of maritime sports enthusiasts - mostly from the GCC.
Saud Al Jasmi, head of events at ATDD, said that the department's staff and teams have put in huge efforts for the event. He added that the festival is the first of its kind in Ajman and that it will be very exciting for tourists and participants. He emphasised that ATDD is keen to work with partners and stakeholders to strengthen Ajman's status as a tourist destination that offers authentic Emirati hospitality and to ensure sustainable long-term value for the tourism sector and Ajman's economy.
