A total of 100 prisoners at the Sharjah Punitive and Reformatory Establishments who were jailed for failing to settle their rent for their residential or commercial units at Sharjah will be released immediately, following decision of issued by Sharjah Executive Council.
The decision was made as part of the Sharjah government's 47-point stimulus package incentive to support governmental and private entities, business sectors and individuals during this difficult period.
Other initiatives include a 50 per cent discount on traffic violations and cancellation of black points committed before March 31, for a period of three months, from April 1.

The decision also stipulates that the released inmates will be given a grace period of three months to settle their dues to landlords and real-estate companies.
A top official at Sharjah Police said that since the issuance of the decision and the initiative, the police instructed the jail management to start the procedures of the 100 inmates who some of the just jailed, some other spent between three to four months.
He said the government initiative aimed at ensuring social protection and supporting the community members during crises, as well as enhancing solidarity and cohesion among them.
The Sharjah police represented in the SPRE is making great efforts to work with the concerned authorities, charity organization and people with good deeds to implement initiatives and programmes that help the inmates to settle their dues and supporting them to start a new life free of debts.
Here are some of the salient features of the package:
1. Three-month exemption for economic establishments who need to renew their licenses in between January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020.
2. Reducing the value of traffic violations by 50 per cent and canceling the traffic points committed before the date of March 31, 2020, and for a period of 3 months as of April 1, 2020
3. Certificates issued by the Sharjah Police General Command, damage or loss, are free of charge for a period of three months, as of April 1, 2020.
4. Exempting tenants from the buildings of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Trade and Trade Building 1) for a period of three months as of April 1, 2020.
5. Exempting tenants from rent in the Expo Center Sharjah building for a period of three months, as of April 1, 2020.
6. Giving a 30 per cent discount to the Chamber's affiliated members to participate in Expo Sharjah exhibitions for the year 2020/2021.
7. Exempting the participants in the permanent exhibition for national industries in the Sharjah Export Development Center from rental fees for a period of three months, as of April 1.
8. 50 per cent discount for shops, commercial centers and supermarkets participating in the marketing campaigns organised by the Chamber for the year 2020.
9. Exempting participating stores from the central and eastern regions (Al Dhaid - Kalba - Khorfakkan - Dibba) from participation fees in the marketing campaigns organized by the Chamber for the year 2020.
10. Exempting employees of small and medium enterprises in Trade Center 101 from the rental fees until the end of 2020.
11. 50 per cent discount on Roads and Transport Authority violations committed prior to the date of March 31, and for a period of three months, as of April 1, 2020.
