A homesick maid in Singapore came up with a cruel ploy to return home to Myanmar and repeatedly dipped her owner's 16-month-old girl's hand into boiling water.
The toddler was rushed to hospital and treated for second degree burns to her left hand and arm. Photos on Daily Mail, show serious burn injuries on the toddler's hand that left her skin peeling.
Although the maid alleged that the girl accidentally touched a hot cooking pot while her parents were at work, doctors suspected foul play. Following this, the girl's mother, Amy Low, 40, checked the CCTV in the kitchen and was horrified to see the maid repeatedly dipping her daughter's hand in the boiling pot.
Initially, the couple trusted the maid's story but sensed something was amiss when she started to pack her bags. On confrontation, the maid revealed that her friends suggested hurting the girl so she would be allowed to go home.
Following the incident, it is reported that the maid's agency agreed to take her back to her country and return the money the family paid to cover the her loan. She had been looking after the toddler and her eight-year-old sister while their parents were at work.
