Orchestra strike the right notes at Al Ain concert

AL AIN - The Prague Symphony Chamber Orchestra won the admiration of the audience right from the very first note at the 4th Al Ain Classical Music Festival held at Al Ain InterContinental Resort on Wednesday.

The orchestra played the first Parthia in D for Strings, by the Czech composer F. J. Tuma, with its four parts Andante, Presto, Arietta, Menuet and Presto. The event also featured the 'Concert for Clarinet' and 'Bassoon', with three movements - Allegro, Andante moderato and Rondo - of the talented Czech composer K. Stamitz.

The ensemble also played the 'Concert for Piano, number 12 A major', of the famous Austrian composer W. A. Mozart. The solo pianist, Jaromir Klepac, excelled in leading the orchestra in playing the three parts of the concert, Allegro, Andante and finally Allegretto.

The 'Old Dances' and 'Arias Suite, number 3' of the Italian composer O. Respighi brought the curtains down on an an excellent end to the concert which was attended by Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and a number of heads of diplomatic missions in the UAE,.

The three-day event, organised by the Abu Dhabi Concert Committee under the patronage of Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Information and Culture, will also feature one more concert in Al Ain Fort that will take place today at the InterContinental Resort.

The programme features a unique package of lodging, full board with a gala dinner in the desert, open rehearsals as well as tours to some of Al Ain's archaeological and historical sites.

The Prague Symphony Chamber Orchestra was formed in 1989 on the impulse of vilionist and now artistic director Pavel Perina and comprises leading members of the Prague Symphony Orchestra whose repertoire is truly broad and varied, consisting of Czech and world string literature including classics of the twentieth century, of Martinu, Shostakovich, Janacek, Stravinsky, Strauss and Orff.

The group has participated in a number of festivals in the Czech Republic, such as the Emma Destinova Festival; the Janacek May Festival, and has been regular guest of the Prague Spring Festival. They've appeared in a number of events in different European countries like Austria, France, Germany, Switzerland, UK and Spain. The band has also collaborated in various projects with important conductors like Peter Altrichter, Peter Vronsky and Pavel Kuhn.
