I think it was a folly to have allowed the release of the movie Accidental Prime Minister in January, when the general elections are just a few months away. The Election Commission of India has dropped the ball and has let us down. A movie such as this one should never have seen the light of the day before the elections. Cinema is a public platform, a vehicle that sways masses and classes, and it got away with screening this one! It's tragic to say the least. It's not about a particular party or a political figure shown in a mocking, distasteful fashion that gets to you, but the larger intent and attempt to malign, influence, reduce, pull down, paint black the image of one party that makes you shift in your seat. It made me wonder where our country is headed and forces me think if the Election Commission is actually a neutral, fair, and an impartial body in India.
