speed limit

This weekend I drove to Abu Dhabi from Dubai and it was quite late at night. The traffic in Abu Dhabi was almost sleepy and there wasn’t any chaos as one witnesses usually in the day time.

While passing the Maqta Bridge down into the city, I witnessed that the speed limit is 80 km/hour. To my astonishment, it should have been at least 100 km/hour. But I realised that this speed limit even is too high for the berserk traffic that hits the streets in business hours, and how difficult it would be for motorists to negotiate such a bumper-to-bumper rolling down. The point is that Abu Dhabi these days has been flooded with traffic cameras, and this makes a good warning for errand drivers.
