The write-up ‘Simply soundlicious’ (KT, April 27) on the importance of music was very informative and engaging. Plato once said that ‘music is a more potent instrument than any other education’.

Many would agree with him. Introducing children to music early in their life can have numerous benefits. It helps to the physical, academic, emotional growth of kids immensely. Studies have shown that kids immersed in the world of arts do better in academics. Music facilitates learning other skills that one uses in other areas effectively.

Singing, listening to music or playing an instrument helps to co-ordinate, express oneself, fosters creativity, boosts confidence and collaboration. For kids, the horizons are higher, when involved in music as it provides huge benefits. It boosts their brainpower, improves memory, teaches patience and discipline and helps them express themselves.
