The report of a six-year-old boy dying after he was forgotten in a school bus for several hours in Dubai on Saturday saddened me. My heartfelt condolences to the family. We have had three similar incidents in UAE before, which were eye openers to drivers and school authorities. But the latest incident indicates that adequate care is still not taken.
After dropping children off at school and at home, all bus drivers must check every seat to make sure no child is sleeping or hiding inside the bus. The bus conductor should then sign an affidavit saying the bus has been thoroughly checked. Otherwise such painful incidents will continue to happen.
There are more incidents of parents forgetting their children in vehicles. This can lead to suffocation and loss of life. Parents must take special care about their children.
I appreciate the efforts taken by the authorities for creating awareness of such accidents.

It is unfortunate that one more child lost his life in a school bus. I am surprised that such an incident could happen in Dubai. The emirate gives so much importance to the safety and security of its residents, and many rules are in place with regards to child safety. School buses are also equipped with safety kits. I am sure the authorities will introduce strict surveillance to monitor each and every pupil who use both school and private transport.
