A Gulf citizen stood trial at the Sharjah Misdemeanour Court for threatening to burn the vehicle of a teacher who punished his son for fighting with another student.
According to the public prosecution, the incident took place a month ago when the defendant learnt that the teacher had expelled his son from the classroom after fighting with a classmate.
The complainant - a private school teacher - intervened to resolve the fist fight and asked them to meet the school principal. But the defendant's son refused to go, claiming he had done nothing wrong and that the other student had pushed, raised his shoes and threatened to beat him.
When he refused to obey, the teacher said: "I know how to discipline you, by deducting your behaviour grades."
When the boy told his father about the incident, the latter rushed to the teacher's house that night. He used swear words against him and threatened to set his vehicle on fire, the court heard.
