The Ajman criminal court has sentenced two Arabs to six months in jail for trying to steal cash belonging to the government while it was being transported to a bank.
According to the police, the defendants deliberately crashed their 4WD vehicle into the van that was transporting the cash and broke its camera.
When a government employee was transporting the cash, he realised the defendants were chasing him. After the crash that happened about 10 metres away from the bank, the employee called the police. The second defendant engaged in a conversation with the government employee, as the second covered his face with a helmet and stole the case containing the cash.
After that, the second defendant also tried to flee, but was arrested by the police. He led the police to the first defendant and the stolen cash was recovered.
After they were arrested, the defendants told the police that they monitored the Arab government employee as he went about his job of collecting the money and depositing it in the bank.
