The three-member gang comprising Africans broke into a shop late on Monday night, but the police arrested the trio.
High-speed car chase, reverberating gunshots, screeching car tyres — sounds like a thrilling movie scene but this was exactly what some Ajman residents witnessed on Monday night when the police foiled a burglary attempt by a gang of armed robbers in Al Swan area.
The three-member gang comprising Africans broke into a shop late on Monday night but, before they could make off with the booty, the vigilant police patrolling the area chased and arrested the trio.
An eyewitness said that four Ajman Police cars chased the suspects on the internal roads and residents of the area said they heard gunshots being fired.
According to a police source, two of the gang members were arrested while the third member tried to escape by running into the narrow alleys of the residential area.
The police warned the local residents to stay indoors until the third suspect was arrested, who was finally chased and caught by dawn by the brave police officers.
The police cordoned off the area and after surrounding the third suspect from all sides, asked him to surrender.
Another eyewitness said: “We heard strange noises outside and when I looked through the window, I saw a large number of police patrol vehicles chasing the suspects. We were very curious as we had never seen such a chase except for in movies.”
He said he and his neighbour went down to the street and one of the watchmen told them that the suspects had injured a Dubai Taxi driver, who was bleeding. He said that police officers had ordered them to stay indoors and inform the police if they saw the suspect, as the police had arrested two of them and the third one was on the run.
