In terms of prizes, the winners of the Trophy event will be awarded Dh 10,000 and a Trophy and the runners-up will get Dh 5,000 and a Trophy.
Abu Dhabi — The Pan Global T20 Trophy, presented by ACE International, got underway at the Abu Dhabi Cricket Council’s domestic grounds over the weekend.
Forty teams are participating in the tournament and the eight best teams selected from the last quarterfinals of the UAE Exchange Trophy, are playing in the Trophy event. These eight teams have been divided into two groups and the two best teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals.
The remaining 32 teams will play for the Plate event and will be divided into of 8 groups. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the knockout stage. All matches shall be held on Fridays and will cover 14 matches per day. Matches will commence at 8 a.m and 1:45 p.m. A total of 95 matches shall be played including eight pre-quarterfinals, four quarterfinals, two semifinals and a final. The tournament will last nine weeks. In terms of prizes, the winners of the Trophy event will be awarded Dh 10,000 and a Trophy and the runners-up will get Dh 5,000 and a Trophy.
For the Plate event, the winners will be awarded Dh 6,000 and the runners-up will get Dh 4,000. There are numerous other awards for Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Man of the Tournament, Man of the matches (from the quarterfinals onwards) and the Man of the Final. Meanwhile, ADCC will also play host to a four-day fixture between MCC and Yorkshire from March 22 to 25.
