The thirty two year old corporation is now the leading supplier of ice in a variety of businesses in the region and the opening of the new plant will only increase their foothold.

You will probably have seen G&M’s consumer product ‘Pure Ice’ in freezer sections of supermarkets around the country.

However, it is less well known that the company supplies ice to 70% of the region’s fishing industry, is the leading supplier of ice blocks to functions for ice sculpting and provides all the ice needed for the construction business. Ice is needed in the regulation of temperature for concrete in summer. Ice is added to the mixture so it doesn’t dry.

Therefore their role in creating all the superstructures popping up everywhere is rather significant. “Maybe one day we will be instrumental in creating an ice hotel in Dubai,” Mr Sadruddin I. Ali, Business Development Director of G&M told City Times at the opening of the plant. “You can never tell. Here anything is possible.” Whilst producing vast quantities of ice the new Modern Ice Factory contains a state of the art laboratory to test the purity of the water used and maintain hygiene. The company was awarded the HACCP certification for its compliance with international quality, hygiene and safety standards and implementation of an internal quality control system, which guarantees consistency at every stage of the production.

Attending the opening of the ice factory was Khalid Kalban, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Investments PJSC. He stated, “We are pleased to welcome the Modern Ice Factory to Dubai investments Park. We are committed to continually upgrading the business infrastructure at DIP to provide world class industrial, commercial and residential amenities to our tenants.” Also in attendance was one of the proprietors of the Modern Ice Factory, Miss Amal Al Shaer.

“We are all very happy and excited to be embarking on this brilliant new venture at DIP", she told City Times.
