Tell us about your character
I play a person who is pretty stuck up and he keeps blaming God for every wrong thing that happens to him. He is an ungrateful chap... but all this is in the form of comedy.
There has been much talk about some problem between you and Priyanka Chopra. And that’s cited as the reason for the delay in the movie.
She is a good person and hard working. I liked working with her. She does her work nicely and quietly. Even I do my work nicely and quietly. And we took a year to make the film. That’s not too long.
How was it working with Amitabh Bachchan?
He is pretty intimidating. But he is the right choice for the character of God because of his personality and stature.
Only God can have a baritone like him! This was our third film together and he is always superb and easy to work with. He is so good that I have to shut up when I am doing my scenes with him. Sometimes my Hindi grammar is atrocious, but we have to be perfect with dialogues as he is always ready with it. He is the best! He knows what he needs to say and what timing is required. It gets embarrassing sometimes as we take much longer to get it right.
But you become all powerful in the movie, right?
Yes, my character gets all the powers. I take his job in the film only for a period of around ten days because my power expires in ten days. But I can’t handle it well and I do some weird things on the ninth day to put the world in danger. And then, God comes back to save the world.
So there you go, I can’t do Mr Amitabh Bachchan’s job!
What would you do if you had God’s powers?
I don’t think I would like to take that chance (smiles)! No one like me should ever do that! Everyone has their own jobs to do. My job is to act and entertain people.
God has his own job. I don’t think I would know what to do with all that power.
