Alban Nwapa grew up in Nigeria listening to a diverse range of artists, from Fela Kuti to James Brown, before heading to Sweden to study dentistry. To make ends meet, he began DJing in clubs, adopting the name Dr. Alban as a nod to his dental studies.

Alban’s debut album Hello Africa sold one million copies worldwide, a success he eclipsed with sophomore album One Love, buoyed by the massive success of club banger It’s My Life throughout Europe.

Black Box began life as leading proponents of the Italian house music movement of the late 80s. The trio churned out dance tunes prolifically in their native country, until Ride On Time caught the attention of a British music industry scout.
