Aida's collection though steeped in history, bore witness to true technical talent.

Italian trained Bosnian designer Aida Korman has interned with legend Alexandra McQueen before starting her own label. As she opened floor yesterday evening, with an ode to Queen Katarina (1463), she showed an eclectically designed mix of ensembles with a distinctive medieval touch.

The silhouettes: A touch of twisted tailoring, strong pants, soft straight skirts - set off with crochet meshes. Organza Jackets with simple shirts. Jackets in suede, natural leather and even sheep hair were given an extremely structured cut.

The colours: Au natural, ivories, whites, sands, beige with a touch of blue, peach, tan, and small flourishes of embellishments in pastel colours.

The fabric: Cottons, hand-woven linens, sheep hair jackets detailed with copper, wood and metals. The accent was on accessories, the chic cuff and copper links, and ornaments - masks and hats that added to the dark drama.

The look: Embellishments and double-stitched piping added finesse to the plaques and leather belts and accessories, which were made like armoury and textured with ancestral embroideries. Even the shoes were custom made and looked reminiscent of the 14th Century.
