Come 2018 and Abu Dhabi will be buzzing with activities like never before. The season starts with the Cairo Sound Music Festival, which will see stars Mohamed Hamaki, Abu and Aida Al Ayouby perform on January 12.
Then on February 9, sons of the late reggae legend Bob Marley - Ky-Mani and Julian Marley will hit the stage at the Bob Marley Birthday Festival. The headline event will see the Grammy nominated reggae musicians relive Marley's legacy. Unveiling a stellar lineup of weekly events, Miral CEO Mohammed Al Zaabi said Miral's vision is to develop Yas Island as a world-class leisure destination.
Other top artistes lined-up for Abu Dhabi include American girl group Fifth Harmony, exhibition basketball team Harlem Globetrotters, the Illusionists magic show, V-Chart Music Awards and Chinese New Year. Free events like Yas Movies in Parks will provide a theme-based experience. In sporting action, there are Yas Marina Circuit engagements, Abu Dhabi Invitation, Abu Dhabi Tour and ITU World Triathlon.
"We will have events catering to interests of everyone every week until Ramadan," Al Zaabi said talking about the events for first-half of next year. He noted that Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi theme park and 'Clymb' with world's tallest indoor climbing wall are on track for next year opening.
"We aim to attract 48 million visitors by 2022," he said noting that Yas Island is the 'place to live, work and play'.
Miral destination management executive director Gerardo Llanes said Yas Island will satisfy the diverse taste of people in the UAE.
Llanes noted there are seven free events among a host of sporting, cultural and entertainment events. "We want to expose Yas Island as a key venue for events," Llanes said.
