PARIS - Societe Generale, one of France's three biggest banks, saw its profits dive 63 percent in the second quarter because of the current financial crisis, it announced on Tuesday.
The bank's net profit was 644 million euros (1.0 billion dollars) in the second quarter of 2008 against 1.744 billion a year earlier.
In the first six months of the year, profits were 1.71 billion euros, only about half of what they were for the same period in 2007.
