DUBAI - China Petroleum & Chemical Corp., the nation’s biggest refiner, Exxon Mobil Corp. and Saudi Aramco plan to start a refinery they are expanding in southern China’s Fujian province by next month, the local government said.
The refining units will begin trial operation between April and May, and ethylene units will start in mid June, the Fujian Provincial State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission said in a statement. The Fujian Refining & Petrochemical Co.’s annual crude processing capacity will be tripled to 12 million metric tonnes a year, or 240,000 barrels a day. The venture is adding four petrochemical units, including a so-called steam cracker that will produce 800,000 tonnes of ethylene a year.
