Al Habtoor to build Dh350m facility at Dubai Industrial City

DUBAI — Al Habtoor Motors yesterday signed an agreement with Dubai Industrial City to build a Dh350 million services, distribution and warehousing centre in the City's transport zone.

Spread over three million square feet area, the facility will be fully operational by the second half of 2009. The deal was signed by Rashed Al Ansari, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Industrial City, and Ahmed Al Habtoor, Chief Executive Officer of Al Habtoor Motors, the exclusive dealers for Bentley, Aston Martin and Mitsubishi vehicles in the UAE.

Al Ansari said: "Dubai Industrial City offers the best environment for the automotive industry at the transport zone. The Al Habtoor centre will further strengthen our status as a key destination for manufacturing units."

"As more businesses choose Dubai Industrial City for their core activities, we anticipate an increase in the manufacturing of value added products within the free zone. In addition, regional economic expansion will add further momentum to the consolidation of Dubai Industrial City as a prime location for commercial activities."

Al Habtoor Motors will build a pre-delivery inspection centre, a spare-parts warehouse and distribution centre, a Mitsubishi vehicle centre, a vehicle storage facility, in addition to workshops.

Ahmed Al Habtoor said: "Our choice of Dubai Industrial City was based on the competitive advantage it will offer us in our operations. The all-inclusive complex will meet our operational needs. It will also meet our customers' requirements."

Dubai Industrial City offers a dedicated industrial destination comprising six industrial clusters — food and beverage, base metals, mineral products, chemicals, transport equipment and parts, and machinery and mechanical equipment.
