Abu Dhabi awards contract for chemicals industrial city

ABU DHABI — Abu Dhabi National Chemicals Company, or ChemaWEyaat, has awarded the master plan consultancy services contract for the Madeenat ChemaWEyaat Al Gharbia (MCAG) chemicals industrial city to Halcrow Group Limited (UK). The proposed chemicals industrial city will be located in the Western Region.

Halcrow will develop the master plan for the MCAG site, which encompasses 70 square kilometres of land allocated to ChemaWEyaat by the Government of Abu Dhabi in addition to ChemaWEyaat Site at Khalifa Industrial Zone at Al Taweelah, Abu Dhabi.

Madeenat ChemaWEyaat Al Gharbia is adjacent to the ADNOC-Ruwais Industrial Complex, home to the Borouge Polymers Complex, GASCO, and Takreer Refinery and other hydrocarbon facilities.

Additionally, the master plan will focus on detailed infrastructure planning for all future ChemaWEyaat chemicals complexes being part of Abu Dhabi Vision 2030, starting with ChemaWEyaat first project ‘Tacaamol Phase 1 project’, which consists of the design and construction of world’s largest Reformer to date with a capacity of about 70,000 barrel per day and an integrated BTX Units that will primarily produce Benzene, Toluene, Paraxylene, Orthoxylene and Metaxylene, as well as Light Naphtha and LPG for export.
