DUBAI - The Dubai Court of Criminal Justice sentenced an unemployed UAE citizen, Juma H. (29), to nine years in jail, along with a fine of Dh 20,000.
The accused was arrested for consumption of drugs for which he was given a sentence of four years. The court also sentenced him for another five years for assault on an officer on duty and in addition, slapped a fine of Dh 20,000.
The police arrested him on March 18 this year on the suspicion of consuming drugs. When the police officers were leading him to the laboratory for the drug test, he assaulted a laboratory technician and insulted him in front of police officers. The urine test in the laboratory clearly proved that the suspect had consumed drugs, though he claimed that it was the result of a medicine.
