DUBAI - The Dubai Police nabbed two Afghanis on charges of robbing two shops at the Grand Souq of Rifaa area and Naif Souq in February.
Police said the first robbery took place at the Grand Souq of Rifaa area on February 5, when Mohammed Musa Safer broke open the shop and the safe inside, and stole Dh50,000, along with some cell phones, watches and electronic devices. He escaped through the window of an apartment upstairs.
The second robbery occurred on February 17, when Mohammed Hassan Khadai, according to the police, sneaked into a shop at Naif Souq through the upper window of the mezzanine level. He forced open the door locks using a large iron lever, and then stole Dh15,375 from a safe. Both accused were nabbed in a police trap on February 24, and were moved to the Criminal Investigations Directorate General, where the first proved to have illegally infiltrated into the country while the other overstayed his expired visit visa.
