RAS AL KHAIMAH — Shaikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, honoured yesterday outstanding students who scored top marks in the General Secondary School Certificate examinations from the emirate.

Speaking at the award presentation ceremony held at the Al Dhait Palace here, Shaikh Saud congratulated the students who had made excellent academic achievements. He also thanked the parents and teachers who had contributed towards the success of the students.

Shaikh Saud said that Government of Ras Al Khaimah attached great importance to education and added that progress of any nation hinged greatly on the development of its education system and its pursuits towards creativity and innovation.

He said that late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan crafted the nation's educational policy on the belief that its developmental march should be carried forward by an educated generation who was equipped

to compete at the global stage. He added that under the able leadership of the President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE would be able to scale new heights in the education sector.

As many as 33 students, comprising 22 girls and 11 boys, were presented with the awards at the function.

Shaikh Faisal bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of RAK Finance Department, Abdullah Ali Mussabah, Director of the RAK Educational Zone and senior officials were present at the function.
