Pleads not guilty to assualt

DUBAI - A Bangladeshi man has pleaded not guilty to the charges of causing a permanent disability to a compatriot.

The case came up for hearing at the Criminal Court of First Instance on Sunday.

The Bangladeshi man, along with two other unknown suspects, has been accused of assaulting and causing 12 per cent disability to a compatriot.

As per the court records, the 38-year-old victim sustained mouth and jaw injuries after the accused hit him with a stone. The incident happened at around midnight on August 27 last year, when the victim was standing in front of Tara Hotel in Al Mussallah Street in Naif area.

While the two Bangladeshis accompanying the accused grabbed the victim's hands, the defendant hit him on his mouth with a stone, the victim testified.

The medical report of the victim showed he had got broken upper jaw bones as well as teeth dislocation.

The accused is also facing charges of illegally entering the country.
