Heavy passenger traffic at Hatta border crossing
DUBAI — The Hatta border crossing between the UAE and Oman witnessed heavy rush during the Eid holidays.
Major General Mohammad Ahmad Al Merri, Director of Dubai Department of Residency and Foreigners’ Affairs, paid a visit to the border crossing to assure himself of the efficiency of facilities at the border crossing located in the emirate of Dubai.
The new facilities were opened this year at the border crossing, which is considered a vital link between the UAE and Oman. It is estimated that over 180,000 people pass through the border crossing every month, enhancing tourism and trade between the UAE and Oman.
As part of the cooperation between the UAE and Oman, the residency department in Dubai implemented a one-step e-border scheme at Hatta crossing in 2008 to connect the two countries via high security electronic network. —
