In a statement sent to the Arab Parliamentary Union (APU) over the recent Iranian actions at Abu Musa island, the FNC called for APU support to the UAE stand. The council asked the APU to send copies of its statement to all Arab parliaments.

Earlier, the FNC in its statement called on the Islamic Republic of Iran to immediately remove the administrative offices set up at Abu Musa island. It called on all the world parliaments to support the UAE for its legitimate sovereignty over the three occupied islands — greater, lesser Tunbs and Abu Musa.

The APU urged the Arab parliaments in its 13th conference held in Iraqi city of Erbil during March, to contact Iran to end its occupation of the three UAE islands.

It also urged Iran to translate its intention of improving ties with the Arab countries into tangible steps by heeding genuine calls of the UAE to settle the issue amicably either through direct dialogue, or by referring the matter to the International Court of Justice.
