Emirati woman sues in-laws to get her share of real estate

ABU DHABI — The Federal Supreme Court has upheld an Emirati woman’s right to ownership of real estate belonging to her late husband in response to her appeal against the verdict of the Abu Dhabi Court of Appeal.

The woman, Mona Saeed, had filed a lawsuit in Abu Dhabi’s Court of First Instance asking for her share in a piece of real estate which she alleged had been omitted from her husband’s inheritance notice by his brothers.

She also asked the court to order her in-laws to pay the real estate revenue since the passing away of her husband till the date of filing the lawsuit.
